Martina Voigt-Schmid is a visual artist and painter based in Mainz, Germany, celebrated for her deep connection to color and its transformative energy. Her work explores the interplay of hues, forms, and textures, creating compositions that evoke emotion and spark joy. Design Process
Our design journey with Martina Voigt-Schmid was a collaborative exploration of art, craftsmanship, and shared creativity. We began by creating artworks using a blend of analog techniques, painting, and collage, merging Martina’s artistic expertise with Sharmeen’s design sensibilities. These pieces evolved through a harmonious exchange of ideas, balancing bold expression with thoughtful refinement.
Once the artworks were finalized, we worked closely with artisans in India to bring these designs to life through hand-tufting. The artisans skillfully transformed our vision into rugs, capturing every intricate detail with precision. This collaboration resulted in pieces that beautifully fused artistic expression with traditional craftsmanship.
